Hi there I went for my injection yesterday and have retention cysts on the eye that needed an injection. It is my only useable eye so it was really annoying. I am also recovering from a PVD in that eye. Has anyone had these cysts? They said they were hard as if not containing fluid but I thought retention cysts have fluid so confused.

Dear tallyho,
It would be worth ringing your ophthalmologist via their secretary for clarification of any points needed.
Kind regards,

Hi tallyho
I take it that the cysts are on your eye lid rather than the eye? Were you given the injection despite of them? If the cysts are small they may well feel hard. I know there are also fibrous cysts, but they are usually on different parts of your body. Are you having treatment for them? I would really be interested to know, so please keep us posted. As for the PVD, unfortunately it is quite a common occurrance as we are aging. This is due to the vitreous gel shrinking and drawing away from the retina, which in itself is no cause for alarm.
Hope all goes well for you.
Hi there yes the cysts are on my eye ball conjunctival retention cysts there seem to be quite a lot of them as the very kind opthalmologist draw a picture of them for me. I had no injection and as I am a steroid responder cannot take steroid drops for it. I have an ointment to put on for 10 days 4 times a day. As for the PVD since it is in my seeing eye the only annoyance is the large floater that is still there 7 weeks later. I am still in my 40’s and have DMO not AMD. I go back in 2 weeks for the injection I should have had
Hi Talyho, sorry, I have no knowledge of these issues but just wanted to send you a hug and good wishes - I know how I would feel if my ''good' eye had any kind of problem. Xx
