Hi everyone I have had a scar on my retina for 4 years that as remained stable but 4 weeks ago I was diagnosed with a left pale juxtafoveal retinal lesion in the same eye. I am worried sick and my next appointment isn't until 16th August. I was just at the hospital 10 weeks before this and everything was ok. Has anyone else had these problems?

Dear purrpot25,
It may be wise to ring your ophthalmologist via their secretary with a list of concerns and questions, so that you are not left worrying and waiting until the 16 August.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of any further help.
Kind regards,

Hi purrpot25
Of course you are worried. I know exactly how you feel. Rosalyn from the helpline is right though. Having said that, I did not have much joy when on my one and only occasion I phoned the secretary for advise. Although she said she would talk to the consultant and then get back to me, I never heard another word until two weeks later when I saw the consultant in person.
Do you know what caused the scarring on your retina four years ago? Of course, any abnormality is classed as a lesion and may mean anything from drusen to neovascularisation etc. If your vision suddenly deteriorates go straight to A&E and do not wait another 2 weeks. But if you notice no difference just wait, hope the best and try not to worry too much. It never helps. I know, it is easier said than done. We have all been there.
Make sure you have a written list of questions to ask the consultant; we tend to forget half of what we had meant to ask. Good luck and a good outcome for the future.
