Eye tests and cataracts???

I have been taking steriods continuously various doses for 7 years, I am 44 and have been having yearly eye tests for the last 4 years. I need glassess for the first time (slightly short sighted), and also have the early signs of cararacts in both eyes. Anyone else had this "early onset" cataracts????

Hi- I have been on a dose of steroids and hydroxy for 16 years and about 4 years ago I noticed headlights were abit glary at night - went for eye check at hospital and it was only my own observation that prompted them to tell me I had early onset cataracts- I go yearly now but it hasn't worsened at all. X

Thanks Tamsin, this has given me a bit of hope, I must have a very disciplined optician (Boots!).

yes since taking steroids I have got cararacts in both eyes I had my first op on my right eye last Friday and they are going to do my left eye soon, steroids can cause so many problems .

ask to be refered to the eye clinic at the hospital before you pay out for glasses
