I was just wondering what kind of monitoring people had during their pregnancies? I'm 11 weeks pregnant and have Lupus Nephritis with stage 3 CKD, and my next midwife and first antenatal consultant appointments aren't until mid-late November. This is an IVF pregnancy so I'm over-anxious about everything, and am worried that I've got 7/8 weeks with no appointments. I've let my renal consultant know but heard nothing back yet. Is this standard procedure or were you closely monitored from earlier on in your pregnancy? Thanks!

Hey, congratulations! I know u must be feeling anxious as I was too, is this your first pregnancy? I’ve got a healthy 5 month old baby girl n I also have lupus nephritis although only stage 1! I guess every hospital n patient is different in what they need but for me this is what happened…I had pre pregnancy counselling just one session to discuss which meds were suitable etc, then called the same consultant as soon as I fell pregnant to do all the baseline checks, then was pretty much seen monthly, for scans, bloods n doctor to have a look over everything. Between something like 16 n 28 weeks I saw midwife weekly to listen to babies heart as I have anti-rho antibodies which could have crossed the placenta but they didn’t! Also I had antiphospholid antibodies so had daily bloody thinning injections. I ended up with gestational diabetes which meant more appointments, then obstetric cholostasis (liver inflammation) and then pre eclampsia at 37 weeks so she came 37+2 and she was totally fine n so was I after some recovery! This isn’t to scare u but to say the consultants can manage alot of complications without any detriment to the baby. I also had to take a lot of meds which worried me, but were fine during pregnancy. I can recommend the baby buddy app for daily updates n videos, n defo find some local groups for pregnant women n share ur concerns about feeling worried, it’s totally normal! Happy to chat further if u want, sending u best wishes xx
Just to add I was seen pretty quickly n had a scan at 8 and 12 weeks so you could phone them up n check if they can see u any earlier then your scheduled November appt? Even though I was seen regular it didn’t change any treatment or anything until the diabetes was found at about 26/28 weeks x
