Lupus, abdominal pain and vomiting

I’ve been in pain for 6 days, dizzy, nauseous and now vomiting for 3 days - can’t keep anything down. Have tried to eat a little so I can take my pills but obviously I’m losing them, too. Can anyone help?

Oh poor you, not nice at all.

If you’re on steroids (or have been recently) you need to go to hospital and be put on IV steroids.

Even if not, you still need to speak to your rheumy as it’s important you can keep your drugs down and we can get much more unwell from bugs than ‘normal’ people.

I had a vomit bug last month and the GPs just advised drinking lots etc but my husband then emailed my rheumy because I was unable to take the steroids and he emailed straight back saying go straight to hospital. 24 hours on a fluid, steroid and anti sickness drip and I felt much better but mine was just a bug and not a lupus flare. If you’re in a flare with pain etc too then that needs checking too. Either way best to speak to your rheumy.

Hope you feel better soon

You need to contact your doctor - he can give you something to help the sickness but more importantly decide if there is anything seriously wrong. Several days without medication isn't a good idea!

Yes you definitely need to see a dr. Or more preferably they should come and see you. Good luck.

Hi DeborahMonmouth,

Nausea and upset stomach can be side effects of certain medications, however, vomiting for three days can be due to other reasons.

I agree with what others have advised, you need to contact your GP or rheumatologist immediately - they can provide you with the correct advice and/or treatment.
