Hi my name is Kathleen and wanted to link with others with lupus. I was diagnosed 20 odd years ago after losing pregnancies and not being able to carry a baby past 28 weeks. I'm now 50 and other than sensitivity to sunlight and any sun causes extreme itch and rashes. I'm heading to Kilimanjaro in Sept and because I keep my lupus under control with total sunblock I was never medicated. I don't know should I let doctor on trip About it or just continue as I am now. Bit worried it would become a big deal. What do you all think??

Hi, I think the doctor would definitely want to know, it's sods law that a flare up would happen when you are away from home, so better to be prepared. As your don't need any medication it seems unlikely that it would cause ant problems.
Have a wonderful trip and don't forget to tell us all about it x

Hi Tiactrpy,
Welcome to the LUPUS UK HealthUnlocked Community! Is there a reason why you do not take medication for your lupus?
That’s fantastic that you are going to Kilimanjaro later on in the year. I would suggest letting the doctor know that you are lupus patient and also that you do not take medication. It is important to take extra precautions just in case you feel poorly or experience a flare whilst out there.
