Hello all, I have mixed connective tissue disease for 19 years now, and have just been diagnosed with Bells Palsy, by an emergency Doctor at the hospital. My left eyelid won’t close and my face is droopy slightly.
Has anyone with Lupus had this?

Hi, I have UCTD with lupus, reynauds and antibodies for scleroderma as well as polymyositis so I will probably fall under the category of mixed connective tissue disease. I have been having a lot of nerve problems for years and have been fobbed off with the anxiety card. I have just recently been diagnosed with orthostatic hypotension caused by dysautonomia, damage to my nervous system. I am also waiting to see a neurologist again due to a constant blepharospasm since February. It has gotten so bad that my eye nearly closes and looks droopy. I also know someone with lupus who has the same drooping on one side of her face that looks like bells palsy who told me that she was referred to a neurologist for this. Have you been referred to a neurologist? X
Many thanks for your reply Shaunalouise. Not yet. I will be back with GP again once the steroid prescription is finished, and will demand an ENT / EYE and neurologist referral. Hoping I won’t need eyelid surgery. Get you rhyming to speed up your referral if possible as this problem can give a corneal ulceration
