Doseage 6 tablets daily for 21 days and then reduce by 1 tablet each week until STOP, I have read up on this and not liking what I see:'(  is there anyone that has tried this before? Thanks so much

Don't be scared of pred - I've been on it for over 6 years and haven't crumbled yet. He's given it you to reduce the inflammation and it should do that very well.

Your course is presumably 30mg to start with (6 x 5mg tablets), reducing 25/20/15/10/5 and stop, which is perfectly safe. You may find you feel a bit hyper on 30mg and sleeping may be difficult but your body will usually get used to it. It didn't bother me at 20mg but everyone is different.

It might make you put on a bit of weight - be very good about eating carbs does help that a lot. I lost weight while taking pred doing that (36lbs altogether) but it is better to avoid putting it on in the first place. Pred puts me off food but I'd still put a lot on over a few years of taking it and being unable to exercise properly. I didn't eat much - but eating more than a small amount of carbs makes me stop losing weight. Friends though avoided weight gain in the first place by cutting carbs drastically. It's only for a few weeks! You might be lucky - some people lose weight but it is unusual.

I am on Prednisolone for the last 15 years, not less than 8 mg daily for PAN.

Methyl Prednisolone (MEDROL) is a more safer version.

But if on continuous usage you should monitor PC ratio and early onset of cataract.
