Hi everyone

I have been put on the anti- inflammatory Colchicine to treat the Lupus Chest Pain. I would love to read your experiences with taking it, did it help? and did you get sickness and diorrhea?. If so did it settle within a few days or did you have to come off the drug?.

Many thanks, keep well

It had no problems with it. I took it for 4 weeks for pericarditis and it helped tremendously. It is a strong anti inflammatory, so hopefully it will alleviate your pain, poor you.

Hi Purpletop

Thanks for your great reply. Colchicine is helping the chest pain already and so far no side effects. Hopefully I'll be able to reduce steroids, that's the plan!. How are you?. You get important results in Dec?. Take Care. X

I'm having my DaT scan next week to check the dopamine levels and whether I have Parkinson's. When I think that ciclosporin caused this, I wish I could get back in time to the moment I agreed to take it and say a big no instead. But who would have thought that drug would affect me that much.

Which is why I totally support everyone who asks questions here about drugs before deciding to take them. It's true that we are all unique and just because no one has had problems doesn't mean we won't. But it helps to form a view- I was just unlucky, I suppose.

I'm glad your pain is being managed properly and fingers crossed you'll soon be able to come off steroids. I find they ruin the skin (amongst other things). I have so many broken capillaries on my face because of them, I look like an alcoholic!

Good luck Purpletop for your scan. Hindsight is a wonderful science and who would have thought Cyclosporine could cause Parkinsons symptoms!. This forum is invaluable for sharing experiences. Lupus can be the great imitator, do you know definitely it's that drug?. . Do you get long breaks from your chest pain?. Mine is more chronic and I've been told I won't come off steroids completely. It's vital I get down to a safer dose. They are a wonder drug but such a worry for side effects!.

Let us know how you get on. X
