I'm curious ... how many of us get involved w/research of new treatments? It seems kind of a scary thing to do, especially when we are already dealing with an illness of unpredictability; how do you deal with the anxiety of what might happen?

An interesting question. I cannot answer! There is a difference between trying a new drug; and clinical trials of a new design of treatment, such as a combination of drug regimes, or even using a drug, used in one medical treatment and using it for SLE ie a different protocol.

There are numerous papers published every month. For example, LUPUS: An International Journal is the major clinical journal, whose Editor is Dr Graham RV Hughes.

If you are thinking about new drugs . . . only one (Benylsta) has been produced in 20 years. This is because of lack of funding and no incentive for pharmaceutical companies.

With good wishes,

Ros
