It's not easy to find information on Pancoast tumours. It is a NSCLC a Squamous. I believe surgery can be difficult. Does anyone have any experience of this?

My partner has a Pancoast tumour. Having chemo/radiation. Can surgery be done if treatment doesn't destroy tumour?
Hi, I am sorry you are having to search this. My husband had pancoast tumour. These are questions you really need to ask the oncologist but this is what I understand. Surgery is an option depending on the size of the tumour and what space it has invaded. I have read stories of people having surgery and being successful. Unfortunately my husband didn't respond to chemo and the tumour continued to grow so surgery was not an option.
Like you I spent a lot of time reading things on the internet, even though everyone tells you not to! It is important to remember that the statistics are out of date (about 5 years) and that treatment has improved massively, and continues to improve every day.

Thank you for your reply. I know what a pancoast tumour is but wanted to know if anyone had had successful surgery. My partner is halfway through his chemo/radio treatment so we wont know for some time what has happened to the tumour. Rambling Rose

Hi,
I just wanted to let you know I was following a post about Pancoast Tumour on the Inspire website today. It was so moving to read the survivor stories as my own experience had been so bad. The Inspire community is wonderful and if you want to get support and advice you should join their forum too because they have so much to share.
