November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month

Every year in the UK, 40,000 people are told they have lung cancer - that's more than 100 people every day.

But there is hope - the earlier the diagnosis and the start of treatment, the better chance there is of a positive result.

Every November, Lung Cancer Awareness Month aims to raise awareness of the symptoms of the disease and encourage those at risk to talk to their GP or pharmacist.

This year, make sure you keep an eye out for our advertising campaign featuring the singer/songwriter Billy Bragg - which will be on buses across the UK and the London Underground.

Later this month we will be launching a report in Scotland looking at variations in treatment and care and we are also finalising our plans for a patient conference, in Manchester at the end of the month.

We hope you will join us in helping raise awareness about lung cancer in your local community.

There are so many ways you can help from putting up a poster in your local shop to sharing your experience of lung cancer with your local newspaper.

To find out how you can help please visit roycastle.org/awarenessmonth or drop me an email at emma.gunby@roycastle.org
