I will be starting chemotherapy hopefully within the next couple of weeks. Just wondered from all those out there whilst I know the treatment sounds daunting, will it help me to cope ?just feel in limbo at the moment whilst waiting.
Thank you

Hello Sally 789,
I am sorry to hear that you have a lung cancer diagnosis and as you have said it’s a daunting journey that you are about to begin. There are many folk on this site who have been on a similar path and I am sure that they will share their experiences with you.
We have a very informative booklet on chemotherapy which you can download here
roycastle.org/app/uploads/2...
We also run online support groups, I have added the direct link which contains the current schedule for the groups which are running
roycastle.org/help-and-supp...
If you would like to join one of these groups or are looking for further information on them please get in touch with Lung Cancer Connect
lungcancerconnect@roycastle.org
Hope you find this information helpful and you are welcome to contact our ask the nurse helpline if you would like to discuss further on 0800 358 7200 Monday to Thursday 0900-1700 and Friday 0900-1600, alternatively you can email us at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org

Hi i was terrified of chemo and I cried like a baby on my first day when they said my husband couldn't stay. But it was actually alot easier than I thought. It can be a very long day, so take a book or music to help. I was always cold so maybe a blanket or fleece etc. They gave us refreshments and biscuits, but I took treats to. The worse part for me was the steriods you're on such a high nobody really prepares you for the comedown. The staff are amazing nothings to much trouble. If there's anything else you need to ask just message me if you like .....Good luck x
I have small cell lung cancer and was on etoposide and cisplatin my first time. I lost my hair 3 weeks after my first treatment. I had 3 day treatment sessions. 1st day was 6 hours, 2nd and 3rd day was 3 hrs each. So, as justbreathe said, take plenty to keep you busy and I take my own blanket but they usually have them on hand. Do you have a port yet or will they be giving it through IV? A port surgically implanted is the way to go.I had to have radiation too and I did 40 sessions which placed me in remission. However, mine has spread to my bone marrow and hip bone socket so I'm doing chemo again.
Prayers your way to a speedy remission.
