I have just been diagnosed with lung cancer, I had no symptoms and haven’t been unwell. I went to the Gp after developing a wheeze as I thought I had asthma. I am due to start immunotherapy the middle of June. I am due to go on holiday the middle of next week for 7 days and would like advice on travel insurance

I had so much trouble getting insurance some so expensive I finally got Its So Easy travel insurance they suited me .....Roy Castle site has lots of links just plough through and I am sure you will find a reasonable one Good Luck

Hi, try Insurance and go. I got annual insurance with them, unbelievable as I could only get two weeks expensive insurance with others.

Hi Morroco. Get a quote from insurancewith.com. I have NSCLC and was quoted £47 for a cruise including covid emergencies delays etc. They ask you what medications you are taking and then match the condition to the medication. Good luck for the future and I hope you get your insurance. Janet

Sorry to hear of your unexpected diagnosis - I had similar back in January 2011 - after going to A&E with strange symptoms for me in the October, being readmitted the next day and kept in a week and misdiagnosed as 'uncontrolled asthma'. I had surgery to remove half my left lung and the 7cm tumour in the December and diagnosed in the January. I didn't travel abroad until 2016 as the insurance premiums back then were so disproportionate but since then treatments, outcomes and knowledge have all changed due to research. I've travelled extensively since then for work and leisure. I've found insurance varies dependent on the destination, your mode of travel, other conditions you may have, age, stage of your cancer, treatments you're on and the company.

I use price comparison travel insurance sites like payingtoomuch.com and medical travel compared. Spain is often more expensive as tourists are usually sent to private hospitals. Also premiums have changed since Brexit and if going to Europe, still take your EHIC or get a GHIC - although I guess your timeline might prevent this but it's another form of 'reassurance'.

I've used Covercloud, Allclear, Saga, Staysure, Getgoing, Allianz, AIG, Easyjet, but know especially for advanced cancer (have no idea what stage your cancer is at )insurance with is highly recommended - they only recently restarted offering cover (paused during the pandemic) and I met the founder of Insurecancer.com who explained they offer cover to those in advanced/palliative stage.
