Dear Rusty821

Sorry to hear of your worry with the area of concern from your CT Scan in your bones, I assume this is on the rib cage as it was your routine chest CT scan; the next step would be to do a full body bone scan.

Hope you hear from others in the forum who have experienced this and find support and encouragement.

Although the area of concern is still to be confirmed if it is cancer, it is understandable your worry around this until you are told otherwise.

You may or may not wish to look at our information leaflet for those who do have spread to the bone: roycastle.org/app/uploads/2...

If it is cancer, then treatments may be either radiotherapy or targeted therapies.

Targeted therapies, target specific cell mutations of the cancer cells to destroy them and stop them spreading, however this treatment only works if you have certain cell mutations present from biopsy.

This is our booklet on targeted therapies: roycastle.org/app/uploads/2...

If you would like to discuss anything, especially after your consultation tomorrow, you can either email us at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org or call our free phone nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200 Monday -Thursday 0900-1700 and Friday 0900-1600

Kind regards

Hi Rusty821

Sorry the targeted therapies has not been working too well for you. They may not need to scan you as they are working from your last scan, but you could ask would it be of any benefit to have a full body bone scan and see what they say.

It may be radiotherapy will alleviate some of your symptoms and hopefully they have an alternative treatment plan in place for you.

Please feel free to contact us after your appointment and wishing you all the very best.

Hi Rusty821 I can't help you there but🤞 for tomorrow let us know how things go xx

Hi Rusty, do you mean end as in end. That’s really upset me if you do. You have to keep fighting this. More and more treatment is available. I’ve got Stage 4 NSCLC, diagnosed in August 2021, picked up by accident when having a scan for diverticulitis, no symptoms of lung cancer at all even now, its spread to one upper vertebrae and left pelvis. First immunotherapy 2 weeks ago, second on 4 November. My biggest problem at the moment is left leg, seems heavy and I drag my foot. Fell last night as couldn’t get out of bath! If this could be sorted I’d feel much better, apart from, as you well know, is the emotional side of this vile disease. Please try and think positive, I know it’s hard, I’m no good at it! Sending love. Pam

Hi PamBeen to hospital today seems the treatment is still working as lung is stable but for it going to my hip bone that was apparently on the first Ct scan so I’m going to have radiotherapy to get it sorted

Yes lots of new treatments coming through so hopefully they will zap this vile disease sooner rather than later

Just had a blip you will get ups and down days so yes keep positive or if like me you are a Star Wars fan
