I was wondering if anyone else is on this and which side effects they are having. I was given ondansetron for nausea and it caused slight condtapstion.

The worst effect from the tablets is severe indigestion which I believe is caused by inflammation. Can I take gaviscon for this as I'm on esameprazole already?

Anyone else on this combination?

Kevin

Dear Foodbankcupar

If it is a clinical trial that you are on you could discuss this with the trial team, it may be these are known side effects and as part of a clinical trial they observe any change or worsening of symptoms very closely.

If you are not getting relief from the esomeprazole, do discuss this with your doctor.

Gaviscon can be taken with esomeprazole, however it is recommended that it is taken 2 hours in between. This link from NHS provides this advice, see question 9:

esomeprazole%20with,after%20your%20dose%20of%20esomeprazole.

It may be best to check with your local pharmacist if you can take this or with the clinical trial team, in case any additional antacid may have an effect on the medications.

Hope you feel better soon and hear from others in the forum who may also be taking this combination.

If you would like to discuss anything, you can either email us at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org or call our free phone nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200

Kind regards
