Biopsy Day

So mums had her biopsy and now back on the ward recovering. X-ray in a few hours to make sure everything ok then 🤞 she can come home soon.

The nurse who brought her up said we should get the results quickly as when these things are found it’s dealt with ASAP. Said if it were not for easter should be within the week but due to easter it will be a little over, feeling scared now that doesn’t look good. Mum said they took about 3 specimens 😞😞

So now the wait begins before I’m guessing the fight starts

Hi, hope your mum is OK, I had my biopsy about 2 weeks ago, got my results a week later now waiting for operation. Its a scary time for both your mum and yourself, but all we can do is fight this horrible disease. Hope your mum will be OK x

hope she gets home soon and you can spend some time together. Try not to be scared - do something nice to distract yourselves. Once you have the results and they can determine the appropriate treatment, then you can find out more about it and what can be expected. There is some good information available on Roy Castle website under 'how we help', 'information' 'lung cancer treatments' as well as information about lung cancer itself and different aspects of living with lung cancer. It can be a long patient 'pathway' or 'journey' so learning patience is something we all have to do which can be frustrating and worrying in a society where we're used to getting instant results for things. It's really important that histo-pathology do their work on the biopsies as treatments can be very different for lung cancer and in many cases are determined by the biology of the cancer within the cells (which can be very different from patient to patient). good luck.

At this stage I’m just hoping that if she has lung cancer and they think it’s metastasised to the spine there is treatment that can be offered as mum without doubt will fight this 😞

I was told by my consultant that staying positive can make a difference. I don't know if that's the case but I do believe that giving up was not my approach and helped me. good luck.
