New to this Hello everyone
Any info be great next step going forward hav nt felt well for while mind working overtime
Hi Sue, sorry to hear of your dilemma. Please try and keep calm , until you have more results there is nothing you can do or say.
Make sure (if possible) when you go and see the doctors etc., to try and take a partner or friend with you. Not only for support, but also to take in what the medical team are saying.
If you go into the Roy Castle lung foundation site by clicking the top logo,
They have a helpline for any worries etc.
Whatever your results are, remember that OVER 50% of patients recover ,manage, or are cured from lung cancer. The technology improves every year. Ask for a cancer nurse specialist if you are unfortunate to have a tumour. They are worth their weight in gold.
Please let me know how you get on. Dont forget a shadoe on an x ray is not always bad news. There are lots of other possibilities that it isnt cancer.
Take care. xx
P.S. I had my whole right lung removed, and yep I am here 4 years down the line.
Dear Sue
It is understandable that you are concerned and it is very scary to hear the words 'shadow in the lung'. The reply from Jillygirl is encouraging , positive and gives good advice from her own experience. As is TeeCeeJay response who has been through being told the same but did not have cancer.
It is a very anxious time for you and we are happy to support you especially whilst you are waiting for more information.
We have a free helpline you can call us on 0333 323 7200 (option 2) 9am -5pm.
We are more than happy to chat to you and go over some options to finding out more information to aid you in getting some answers.
Have you been referred to any specialist? or any further tests been requested ?
There is lots of information on our website roycastle.org however it would be good initially to have a clearer diagnosis.
Wishing you all the very best
Roy Castle support team
It's natural to be scared and very difficult to deny these feelings when you are told you have a shadow. All you can do is distract yourself until you know more.
I was told I had a shadow on my lung last year because I also had other symptoms and discomfort in the same area, I convinced myself it was cancer. It wasn't. I was given the all clear and diagnosed with a non-fatal and manageable condition. Even if your news is not good, its one step and one day at a time. Best of luck.
Best of luck for Thursday. As I type I am sat recovering from having part of my right lung removed last week. It is a scary so make sure as someone said to take someone with you. Write down your questions and get a timeline for when your tests will be done and follow up appointments. Also get a contact number so you have a point of contact. Best of luck and j truly hope it is not cancer but if it is support is here x
