You're very welcome, I was not in serious need of the cash but if we are entitled to it then we should all get it. I did a piece to STV regarding the disparity that there is in lung cancer survival rates in the UK and esp Scotland. Let's see if we can keep pushing all relevant parties.

P S Lorraine you came over good.

Stay well

You are right in that if we are entitled to it then we should get it. Quite a lot of people also do not apply for McMillan Grants and they should as the Government has a pot of money sitting aside for Cancer Patients and I always tell people about it just in case they have not applied.

I think the Government needs to help us cancer patients more in terms of putting more money into research to help us live longer through medication which helps us not only have a better quality of life but a longer one too.

Well done Rab for taking it to STV and as you say we need to keep pushing it and get it out there.

Just seen you and Lorraine on STV - well done both. I did a bit on local radio down here. Good to have lung cancer being discussed and being brought to the forefront.

Hopefully things will move forward for us all and progress will be made.

Well done Rab and Lorraine - you both came across really well.

Best wishes

Just reading this post and wondered what ESA is?

Thank you Liz

Hi Liz

It is Employment Support Allowance. It is money that you get if you, for whatever reason, are not working due to your illness and are not getting SSP.

gov.uk/employment-support-a...

Unfortunately I cannot get a link to take you straight to the page but type the above into your browser and have a look. Tells you how to apply, how much you will get etc.

Good luck and hope you get something from them.

No problem Liz. Good luck and remember if you have not applied for a McMillan Grant as another lot of money we are entitled to. Take care Elaine xxx

Hello all

Thanks to Rab and Janey for their help with coverage of the Lung Cancer Awareness Month story. Lots to do but we will persist with highlighting what needs to be done.

Glad to hear the positive experience of access to financial support. Too few people realise what is available. The paperwork can be intimidating but help can be available from your specialist Nurse or local MacMillan/ CAB partnerships.

As well as the MacMillan grant system we have additional grants available to people affected with lung cancer. Do contact us on Freephone 0333 323 7200 option 2.

best wishes

Lorraine
