My husband had his second triple treatment yesturday.... I just wanted to say that the full car crash panic I felt seems to have slightly abated. He is stage 4... And it is hoped to buy more time...... He had bone pain on day 5 to 8........ All other symptoms ie nausea /sickness seem to be undercontrol atm..... No sleep last night I expect its the steroids??... But we listened to well being sleep music on Spotify..... Last night seemed to be the first night of calmness that we have felt since 11 February...... Kind regards and best wishes to you all.

It’s great to read that he is handling this so well. You hit on a couple important things. It absolutely was the steroids keeping him awake. Using music the way you did was brilliant and I’m going to add that to my toolbox.

The pattern of side effects is predictable for both regular chemotherapy and maintenance treatments. A number of people have written about using those cycles to plan shopping days, trips, or other activities and chores.

Thank you for sharing. I’m 11+ years out with stage 4 lung cancer and still learning from others here.

We had new wills made today... Our original was when I had breast cancer.... Have moved twice since... And solicitor had gone bust!.... It had to be done... But is quite depressing...... Wow.. I can not wait to show him about your inspiring story..... You are incredible...... Pray that my husband is on the best treatment for his kind of lung cancer..... Its taken us until today to actually read what grade stage he is..... Thank you

when I was told about my treatment in Dec 2010 my partner and I made our wills - never got round to it sooner despite losing both his parents suddenly and my younger sister who died without a will... nowadays I don't think about it... my diagnosis was in Jan 2011 before many of today's newer treatments existed... I became involved in lung cancer research and have met patient advocates and patient partners in research who were many years out even with stage iv and not all had the personalised treatments or immunotherapy available today ... good luck to you both and glad you're calmer. sleep disturbance is common with steroids or coughing so good to develop some ways to deal with it...

So happy his side effects have improved. I listen to guided meditations nightly to enhance my sleep. Bernie Siegel, Ruth Naperstak, Kris Carr, and others offer beautiful cancer healing music and imagery in their tapes. I was diagnosed with stage iv near two years ago. and feel great. Love, prayers, and positive energy sent your way. Hope and faith is what I focus on.

It's those little steps that show real progress. It will take time but you're moving forward and that's all you need to worry about at this point. I was a Stage IV non-small cell lung cancer diagnosis, too, and I just got back from a 5K run. It was slow but that doesn't matter anymore. One step at a time, one foot in front of the other!

Hello Ceibach

I'm glad your feeling more calm and less panic, it can play havoc, I've had more manic attacks than I can remember but those too calming down.

Yes, bone pain can be a problem, I started with shoulder pain. I felt my nausea and sickness was shock, always felt sick going for tests.

Steroids!! I'm on 6 a day, make be hyper, can't sleep and can't stop eating!!

Spotify is great and there are loads of relaxation apps out there.

Best wishes and keep in touch

Pam

Hi Ceibach, have you learned anything new about the diagnosis or treatment yet?

Yes.... 😢. Not the results we were hoping for.... But stage 4.... Plus all the other numbers and letters.... Only this week....... He isT4. N3 M1..... He had treatment no 2 on Monday 2 xchemo plus 1 immunotherapy. It was on his notes but its little steps and we can't cope having too much info. Unless someone tells me otherwise.... I don't think it's brilliant.

I know steroids can interfere with your sleep . You need to take ster as early as pos. I take mine with breakfast. If you have a cup of tea in bed, take your Pred with 2 biscuits and a cup of tea. It might just help. Thinking of you xx

Best wishes that he is able to tolerate the treatments and that they will be effective. Steroids are such a blessing and curse combined. Your doctor might be able to adjust the doses or offer other suggestions. Hang in there. Jennifer
