Hey all, hope you had an amazing thanksgiving break! So we called in for PET scan results and the receptionist told me the doctor would call later. Oncologist called but we were not able to answer, so when we called back the assistant said the doctor tried to contact us. Regardless, she said the oncologist said the pet scan results show that everything seems to be fine, which felt amazing after a week of waiting.
Now, I know this is out of topic but I am hoping any of you parents of teens could help me and my mom. My mom has been worried with her results, dyalisis, appointments, but something that consumes her is my sister. She is 11 and she is loosing so much weight. Since last year she got sick and threw up and ever since then she has been scared of food. But it has gotten so bad she is so picky. She doesn't eat milk, eggs, or even junk food. Just bites some things but no appetite. She looks sick. A month ago ger GP said she is at a healthy weight and okay but did not run tests. Today a month later we went and she lost 7 pounds since! I am worried sick with my mother, and her too😭 My mom is so scared of any bad disease happening to her children so she is on the edge right now. My sister tries to eat but she says she has no appetite at all, she is nauseous. Her face looks so pale, and she looks skinny as a stick. I honestly don't know how to help my mom cope with her health issues and now my sisters. We are waiting for any results but I could not handle something else😪 It is like life throws a thing after another at this point. I know I shouldn't say that but that is how I am feeling at the moment. I want a moment of peace.

It is obvious that you do not trust this doctor. Have her evaluated by a new one. She needs counseling at the least. It’s not healthy to not eat because you fear throwing up.
Although it sounds like it might be psychological in origin -a conditioned aversion to eating (like a phobic response), a more generalized stress response, or an eating disorder (these can be linked to a need to feel in control of at least one aspect of life) it is crucial to rule out any non psychological issues first. As a licensed psychologist, I can attest that quite a few physicians are too quick to try to skip this step. Find a doctor that takes your concerns seriously!
I agree with Denzie and annkezar. Have your sister evaluated by a new gp. You said her GP said she is at a healthy weight and okay, but didn't run any tests. She may need counseling, but I think she also needs to be evaluated by a good GP, just to make sure there are no medical reasons for her weight loss.
