Hi there! My cancer was found in May of this year. I had a lower left lobectomy in June. I was diagnosed 3A as the tumor was bigger than thought when removed and I had spread to the lymph node closest to my tumor in my lower left. Because of the spread, I started chemo in late July and I finished my 3/4 treatment yesterday. I am on Alimta and Cisplatin. I notice nausea the first 3-4 days. It is pretty mild although I am up at 4am today with it. After that I am doing well. I usually feel pretty normal after the first week. The key for me is drinking 96 oz of water every day and I try to walk at least 30 minutes per day 6 days a week. I highly recommend this to you. Also ask for biomarker test on your tumor. I discovered that I am ALK positive and will likely start targeted therapy next month. Also make sure to get brain MRI every 6 months. If this spreads often that is where it goes. Good luck to you!!
Welcome, and I’m sorry for the need that drives you here. Grateful to read that there are no mets. Please let us know what you learn at the oncology office. We’ll be able to help you manage any side effects of treatment. Someone here has probably experienced it. Where are you being treated?
My stage 4 lung adenocarcinoma came in October of 2010. I had one line of treatment and no maintenance chemo. Grateful everyday to be alive.
Good news there are no mets. I had 7cm tumour removed with upper left lobectomy in Dec 2010 (diagnosed Jan 2011). There are so many more treatment options now if patients fit the specific profile. Ask if there are any clinical trial treatments available as well. good luck.
I am glad there are no Mets. My first LC diagnosis was July 2013, second one was April 2018. Lost both upper lobes, but I'm still here.
