Hi Every one

I have been prescribed Portable (ambulatory) oxygen and oxygen concentrator for home activity level use 4L per min. have been using this for 3 months now and does have a effect on me in a positive way at times, well would deff struggle without the oxygen, Emphysema & Fibrosis , lung cancer 2.5 years ago removal of half of left lung.

Question is what area of points could i claim on PIPS daily living component on the lower rate at present am on 11 points this was set before my part removal of my lung and oxygen, i am needing 12 points to get the higher rate, so needing to know how this oxygen helps me in getting extra points , and how to answer the questions on the sheet.

appreciate for any answers Trevrob

Hey Trevrob! I’d never heard if this PIPS before. I looked it up. Are you in the UK? You would do better asking this in the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Page.

I second Denzie's question as I've never heard of PIPS before either. I hope you find the answers you are looking for and can enlighten us on PIPS :)

Hi Guy59 the oxygen itself won’t automatically entitle you to more points. The additional help you need because of increased breathlessness would be what entitles you to additional points and the higher rate. This could be because you now need assistance from another person to manage each of the activities or you may be unable to manage them at all.

Hope this helps!

All the best

D
