Great all clear! That was my case and I have remained under the care of my Pulmonologist for continued monitoring and follow up scans.
Usually it is in 6 mts increments but I would call the medical team to be sure. Everyone is different.cf
Good news.I had a lobecytomy in June saw my Thoracic Surgeon August and November and will see him again in February Each appointment preceded by a scan.
Congratulations on the "all clear." That is fantastic!! I have not had surgery, but generally with the all clear, you should be seeing your oncologist every 3-6 months with a scan preceding the visit to make sure you are still in the clear.
Don’t be shy about calling your doctor ‘s Office to see when you are due. Sometimes things do fall through cracks and sometimes it can take a couple months to get in to see a doctor.
Patients who stay actively engaged and on top of questions like this have proven to have fewer medical errors, better communication between their care team members, and longer, healthier lives.
Hello wispernow, Congratulations on completing your treatment! Perhaps, you can reach out to your treating healthcare provider and ask them for a survivorship summary and surveillance plan. This is now a required recommendation from the Commission on Cancer for anyone undergoing curative treatment as a vital way for you to know all the specifics about your cancer, treatment, who and when to follow up for imaging or other cancer screenings, and any possible short or late side effects that may happen. This is recommended to be a "road map" for your surgeon, oncologist, pulmonologist, and primary care provider. Ask your physician and/or hospital about a documented plan for you. If you have any questions, please call me at 650-779-8286 or email kparham@lungcancerfoundation.org.
