Hi, my dad has been doing Carboplatin chemo and seems like he is developing Peripheral neuropathy from the chemo.

Are there any tips on how to manage or prevent worsening it?

Thanks

Ina

Hi Ina, I found that in my case, regular acupuncture (once per week) has worked well for me as I’ve experienced very minimal neuropathy. I had two different lines of chemo (19 rounds total) and have had to date, 27 rounds of Ramucirumab which can also have neuropathy as a side effect. I started getting acupuncture after my diagnosis, 8/4/16 and believe it has helped with other side effects as well; i.e. nausea, ear ringing, watery eyes, GERD, anxiety.

Best wishes to you and your Dad.

PegD’s suggestion has worked very well for a couple different people I’ve met.

You might also talk to a dietitian to learn if you might benefit from L-glutamate or magnesium.
