I have stage 4 lung cancer. The Dr. Gave me one year of chemo . Every 3wks. I would like to know if any one that toke chemo, has red blotches on there hands and arms. I also have kidney damage from chemo. Some times I think you just trade one organ for another.

I took chemo but did not experience blotches. Everyone is different and chemo does weird things to your body. I agree with you about some of the treatment side effects. It seems as you work to stop one problem, another is flaring up.

I pray you do well on your treatments and may God strengthen you.

What type of chemo are you on? You (and Ruthie) hit the nail on the head, you trade one set of symptoms for another. Fortunately the second set of symptoms has a higher survival rate.

What do you mean by "blotches"? I've been on chemo for a bit over two years, mainly Alimta, and my side effects have been very manageable. I do have a lot of blemishes and such, some very red and inflamed, that come and go pretty much anywhere. It's a bit like being a teen again... though perhaps not the best part of that experience. If it is more like a rash, it would be the sort of thing to ask your oncologist about.

Good evening J. The blotches that I have looks like my vains. I did ask my oncologist about this but all I get is "Chemo" so I look on this site and find out more then the Drs. I'm 73 and to say I wish I could go back to being. A teenager again, no thank you. It took me 73 yrs to get here. Guess we have to laugh a lot. A dear friend has cancer also and she also has this. So we will leave it as a "Chemo" thing. Hope your cancer is under control. I always say "let go and let God".

Well, you know, chemo does make the body do weird things sometimes. Seems like everyone has a different story to tell. I'm just glad it's an option that I am fortunate enough to take advantage of. Hoping that your blotches clear up, or at the very least that you come to enjoy the unique new look! All the best.

Not what you're looking for?
