because the pneumonia I’ve been fighting for weeks isn’t ebough ...someone thought I needed a blood clot...luckily it’s behind my knee and hasn’t broken off into my lung. That’s ok cancer....you just keep on throwing the hits and I’ll keep on taking them. I don’t quit so maybe YOU should. 😡

Wow! You sent me running for the medical dictionary. I learned something new so thanks!

My mom had DVTs with her lung cancer. Her dr told us it was caused by a protein the cancer produces. I better learn more about that.

So what are they going to do for treatment? Lovenox? Greenfield filter? Medication? How did you discover it? So glad you did before it became an issue.

Loving your attitude. Cancer doesn’t dare get sassy with you. 😉

Lol...sassy. That’s a nice way of saying it I suppose. I discovered it when I got up from the couch and put my foot on the floor and almost hit the ceiling. A pain shot down my calf and when I grabbed the back of my knee it was boiling hot. I knew from past experience it was a clot and then I got a mirror and looked. Sure enough there was a big purple bulge. My legs are pretty skinny (below the hips lol) so there’s not much room to hide if you’re a clot 😬. Last time my oncologist had me on Coumadin for 6 months. There was a reason why he couldn’t give me the newer meds. Something to do with my clinical trial infusions and some kind of contradiction...not exactly sure what it was though. I’m done with the infusions now so maybe he will put me in something with less restrictions than Coumadin would be nice. I’m a leafy green vegetable girl and Coumadin doesn’t do well with leafy green vegetables so...I’d really like something else. I’m actually in my hotel room now (I have a scan tomorrow and follow up Wednesday and my cancer center is almost 100 miles from my house so I make a little getaway out of it every three months 😊😊) and I’m not able to sleep (it’s 1am) because I’m so worried about this stupid clot breaking loose. I’ve gotten inside my own head because I have a little bit of chest discomfort and it’s making me paranoid. It’s probably a little pleurisy from the pneumonia but of course when you have a clot you think the worse. I guess my brain figured it’s better to stay awake just in case. You know I’m grateful for the internet in most instances but I also hate it because I can look too many things up. Oh well ...back to YouTube videos and dried pineapple rings for me. 😊😊😊

Hi sorry about your blood clot. I really like to read your posts. Your sense of humor is great. I have a sick sense of humor. My whole family has one. We have a lot of laughter. We see which one of us is the sickest. I hope your clot resolves. I'll be thinking of you. Have a good evening. Now smile your on candid camera. Love susiejo1948

Lol thanks SusieJo. Turns out it’s not a blood clot...it’s a swollen lymph node pressing on the nerves. Apparently I have some cancer “progression” and have to have a PET scan. That’s a bummer because I’ve had 3 years of good scans. My oncologist thinks my whole lymphatic system may be involved but I’m not going to stress about it until I have the scan. Even then I’m not going to stress about it because all that will do is make me miserable and when I’m miserable ....everyone around me is miserable (that’s cause I make them miserable so I’m not alone in my misery lol). It’ll be fine. If God wanted me he would have taken me already. I have plenty left to do here so whatever is going on, I’ll fight it and I’ll win 😊😊😊. Be well! Xoxo

I found out I had a Pulmonary Embolism at diagnosis and had no symptoms or warning. Sonce I was in the hospital (also started with a brain tumor) and it took a few days and tests to learn it was all from Stage IV NSCLC....(Wham!). I guess since I was already there it was lucky they found it (on a CT scan) trying to determine if the brain tumor was a Met (yes it was)..! Anyway-- the started me on Heparin during the stay, but once I was discharged then sent me home with an RX for Lovenox (Twice Daily Injections) that my visiting nurses and hubby did for me..I'm a wimp about given myself an injection and really hated them. A few months later, I asked about "Xarelto" and was thrilled to learn I could go on that instead -- a simple one a day pill. Oh Yay!! Thankfully I can take them myself, which is a breeze and it's well tolerated.

I asked when I would be able to stop it and they stay "Never" PE's and DVT's tend to be more common in Lung Cancer Patients--go figure, as if we dont' have enough going on.

I'm much happier with the Xarelto than those darn twice a day Lovenox injections, so I hope you'll have a chance at Xarelto too.

Best of luck

Lisa

Sorry you have to take anything but very glad you survived the PE. They are a very scary thing. Turns out I don’t have another clot. See above and you’ll see why. Be well and good luck. 😊😊😊

Very sorry to read further and learn that you may have progression. I'll be thinking of you and hoping for the best.

I'm very lucky that I'm still here and very grateful. Having a PE, brain tumor and stage IV NSCLC...I'm blessed to be here three and a half years later. 😁

Think positive...

Definitely thinking positive. My brain tumor was a primary and so is my NSCLC. I’m grateful for that because mets can be harder to deal with, especially in the brain. Whatever this is, I will persevere and IT will lose. That’s just how I roll....😂😂. Ha!

WOW....Two Primaries, is a tough one, but with your great attitude I can see you'll go far!! ....

With you all the way ynkefan!! After 6 years cancer free/remission , I have some issues again myself and am back to 3 month CT scans, with another PET and biopsy if Drs deem necessary. Worrying never helps anyone, you or those around you. Just makes everyone and everything miserable. So stay upbeat and positive, and enjoy life and those around you. All Best Wishes, judg69 🏝🏖🧚‍♀️😉

Thanks judg...im trying my damndest lol. If only I could get my husband to not be such a worrywart. I get that he’s worried about me and I also get that he needs to talk about these things just as much as I do. The problem is I want him to talk about it with someone other than me. I think it’s a little unfair for me to have to be his sounding board for when he’s worried I might die. It’s just too much for me to deal with. It’s bad enough I worry about that kind of stuff...I don’t want to hear from him that he’s worried about spending the rest of his life without me. Anyone have any input on how to deal with this kind of thing? I’m not being uncaring about his feelings. Not at all. I just can’t be the one to give him pep talks all the time and have to constant reassure him that everything will be ok. It’s hard to explain 🙄🙄🙄
