I found out last week after my pet scan I know have cancer in my right lung I go in to cancer center next Wednesday to get set up for stereotactic radiation. I am wondering how much time I will have. It hasn’t even been a year since they removed my left lung. It seems like it is going to keep happening

Jewilliams i know its hard and your afraid but with the treatments they have now they could get rid of it. So don,t give up you keep on fighting have hope. Ihad stage three and i am also 5years cancer free.i had breast cancer 2 years before that had a mastectomy the cancer is gone. don,t give up.If you need to talk were all here for you. love susiejo1948

Susiejo is right, you can beat this so don't give up. My oncologist told me that attitude counts A LOT, that was almost 5 years ago. For me it looks like the cancer may be back, but my attitude: I beat it before, I will beat it again.

Keep fighting. We are here if you need us.

I know it is scary. I'm stage IV with lung and brain cancer. Come February 12 it will be two years since got diagnosis and I'm still living and enjoying life...just differently. Stay prayerful and we are here for you. One day at a time is how I live enjoying the small things I never paid attention to before. Keep us and your loved ones close. It's hard just remember we are your family too. Write when you want. Together we are strong and yes it all sucks but look for that daily rainbow.

Approaching my three year mark with Stage IV NSCLC. The statistics were created many years ago before many of the current treatments were approved. The desire to know “how long?” Is strong, but I encourage you to focus on what you do with the time you have as best you can and push away the idea of timeline. Docs don’t know either. We are each only promised this moment or day; this cancer makes us pay more attention to that, but it is true for each of us. Use the good china, tell people how much you love them, and go easy on yourself as you try to live well with cancer.

If the radiation does it’s job there’s no telling how long you can live. At an educational seminar in Columbus I met a man who’d been 25+ years with one lung. So the real question is whether or not the radiation works.

Very glad that you’re having SBRT as IMRT causes more damage to your surrounding lung tissue. This gives you the best chance for long term survival.

I send hope that this is the last treatment you’ll ever need and you’ll be NED for as many decades as you want.

Jewilliams, sorry you have had a recurrence. It surely doesn't feel like just a bump in the road to you. It sounds like your doctors are still treating you with curative intent, and I hope that the stereotactic radiation is effective - and durable!
