I take gabapentin for my nerve damage. It seems to help some. I had surgery september 2016 and still experience nerve pain. Hope you get to where you can work. I'm going back finally next month and pray my feet hold up. Stand up type work. Feel better and just do what you can. Best to you.

I've also heard of people using Lyrica for nerve pain. Talk to your doctor about options.

I am on gabipentin for nerve pain after a mega dose of radiation to kill one of the lung tumors. It seems to help quite a bit. Talk to your oncologist and explain in detail what you are feeling to see if there is something beside physical therapy that can help you through this. Neuropathy isn't fun, but with time I am finding that it is slowly going away. Also, not all physical therapists are the same and you might want to find one that has treated symptoms like yours before. I called around and made sure the PT I chose was well versed in relieving my pain. Also, in addition to gabipentin, I see a pain management specialist - they are usually anesthesiologists who are well versed in meds to help. Keeping my brain was very important to me, so we worked to find a pain reliever that does not make me foggy.

Praying for the bet for you,

Lauri-Anne

Definitely look into physical or occupational therapy. Lauri-Anne’s suggestion to verify that they have experience with your type of injury is gold. Consider adding a palliative care physician to your team. They have extra education in addressing the challenges of long term survival.

I had surgery 7/2014 and my upper arm and section of chest is still numb but still have use of my arm. Unfortunately surgeons lots of times cut nerves when thy do lobectamies. I had radiation on a lymph node 2016 that damaged some nerves so I have burning and itching as well as periodic pain on my chest. I take gabapentin and that helps some. I have quite a bit of neuropathy in my feet from chemo that the gabapentin helps with as well. Congratulations on NED!

I tried the gabapentin didn't really help so the chemo could have done some damage too and the radiation I have numbness in underarm area also the burning and itching in hand is so unbearable sometimes I guess its just something to live with if this the worst then ill be happy I don't want my cancer to re appear and have to get more surgery because I don't think I can deal with more nerve damage to everyone out there I pray that they will hear NED
