I am preparing to meet with the yucky oncologist and it occurred to me that you folks would be the best source for the questions I should be asking. So - if you could ask 2 questions of your oncologist, what would they be? I will not have answers from the 2nd opinion oncologist in time, so anything is fair game. This time, with your help, I am going to hold his feet to the fire and not leave until I know more than that I have non-small cell lung cancer.

Have you had recent genomic testing of your tumor? Or blood tests for mutations? If not, I would ask about that. Best of luck.

You go girl!!! I would ask what my options for treatment are at this point and about genomic testing. If it has not been done, then firmly request that it be done. It could open up new treatment options for you.
Best wishes. Be strong and take your friend with you as a witness.

What mutations were tested for? Is there a benefit of doing Chemo then radiation?
Thank you! All the responses are questions that are important and have already been asked...and basically ignored. I was hoping for some very specific questions.
My stomach is churning as tomorrow approaches...not one to lose my temper, but it may take that to get serious answers
Lauri! As you’ve stated they’ve been asked and ignored. Without that information no one can tell you what your next step might be. It could be anything.
You’re trying to save your life here. If the dr doesn’t answer your question ask him why he’s not answering. Your life is more valuable than the doctor’s ego or feelings.
You’ve asked the questions and not gotten answers, it’s time to demand answers.
Hi anrean here is my experienced before we met my husband Oncologist I type all the questions that I'm going to ask her and I handed it to her to fill up the answer. Here are some of the questions that I asked. What type of Lung cancer do I have? What stage is my lung cancer? If my cancer has spread, where else is it located in my body? Do I need more test? Is there any molecular marker in my tumor? Can you explain my prognosis? What are my treatment options? What type of treatment do you recommend for me and why? What new treatment exist and am I eligible for them? Am I eligible for targeted therapies? Are they any clinical trials that are appropriate for me? if so, how do I get more information? What are the risk and benefits of the treatment options? What is the goal of the treatment? When do I start treatment? How long will it last? How often will I get it? What are the possible side effects of my treatment and how can I manage them?If I have questions during my treatment and my doctor is not available, who can I ask? Who should I call in case of an emergency? What should I do to stay healthy during treatment? What would we do if the treatment doesn't work or if cancer comes back? What type of follow up will I need after treatment? Should I change my diets? What is my ideal weight? Should I take a dietary supplement? Can taking dietary supplements interfere with my cancer treatment? etc. etc. Sorry, it's too long just trying to help I know what you feel, just type it up and handed it to your oncologist in that way you will not thinking or forgetting what you are going to ask.
