I am on Carbo and Alimta every 3 weeks. I am extremely dizzy. Been to dr. Thought I had ear infection but he said no. It's to the point that I get so dizzy I'm afraid to drive. Anyone have this experience?

Good morning, it is so good to hear from you again, but I am really sorry it is because you are having symptoms. You said you saw your doctor, was it your oncologist? Your oncologist, or your nurse navigator should certainly be made aware of your symptoms (forgive me if you have already done that) right away. Are you on B12, folic acid and a steroid along with the Alimta? Maybe you need your blood levels checked? Just ideas. I will be interested in hearing what the rest of the group has to say. Please take care!

So sorry you frel so aweful. You don't need an ear infection to be dizzy.

I don't remember having that problem on those drugs. Several friends have had dizzyness (not on chemo)

Both were diagnosed (by an ent dr) as having vertigo. One eent for certain head exrrvides to "move the crystals around". The other( different dr) put her on medication. She says she feels much better.

I guess what i am saying is that those of us on chemo tend to think everything that occurs mudt be related to our diagnosis or chemo (which i completely understand)

Hello Mytwins02, I didn't experience dizziness with carbo/alimta but I am experiencing occasional dizziness with Cyramza/Taxotere. Have they done an updated MRI? I will be asking about this today at my appointment. My research suggests that dizziness with Taxotere is a known side effect but I'm not sure about Carbo/Alimta. Another possibility, are you having any sinus issues?

Wishing you all the best.

Hi,

I did not experience any dizziness while on Carbo and Alimta. As already suggested, please be sure to report this to your Oncologist and also ask if they will order you an updated MRI or Head CT Scan! Best wishes, hope you feel better soon.

PS: You are very wise NOT to drive when you feel this way.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I just had my 36th treatment overall on maintenance of pemetrexed(Alimta) only after 8 Carbo-Pem. I did not experience chronic dizziness. Please do tell your doctor and make sure you do everything to address neurological symptoms. Do any of your doctors think MRI of your brain might be a good idea?

I experienced dizziness while on chemo (cisplatin/pemetrexed) however it was because of dehydration causing low blood pressure. Have you had your blood pressure checked? Are you getting extra fluids?

yes they do think it is from not drinking many fluids. I hate water so now I am drinking Gatorade.

Not what you're looking for?
