Anyone else with this who would be willing to share their treatment plans? Doc says 6 months. Mets in liver, bones, adrenal glands.

Stage 4 SCLC
I have a friend with sclc and she lived 6 years. She just passed 2 weeks ago. Could the Dr. that told her 6 months be wrong?
So sorry to hear. My prayers are with you. Stay strong
I do not know anyone with sclc but I will get on the hunt for some. Call MD Anderson and see if there are any trials Do not give up Get mad at that cancer and tell it to go to hell. Then get to the business of treating this monster. I will be asking God to giver you guidance and someone in your life who will walk through this with you. Praying for treatments out there.
Plan for the worst and hope for the best. There are clinical trials going on that may give you the best hope for longer progression free survival. The one that comes to mind is ROVA-T.
If you're not being treated at an NCCN Comprehensive Cancer Care Center of excellence do consider seeking a second opinion at one. Come to think of it, if you're being seen at one go to another for a second opinion anyhow. MD Anderson that Texas64 mentioned is a leading cancer center.
Standard of Care is cisplatin/etopicide and if possible palliative radiation.
What isNCCN? I'm at Cleveland clinic now
Don't eat any SUGAR what's so ever and please listen to "the truth about cancer" detox your body. I have seen alot of people with stage 4 become cancer free. It is true!!! Prayers, no sugar, no processed, lots of raw veggies and some fruits. Learn all in truth about cancer. You can do this and be cancer free. You can. You just have to BELIEVE!!!
I think all of the advice given above is excellent. Definitely look for a second opinion, preferably at a comprehensive cancer care center of excellence. Do look into clinical trials and improve your diet by removing sugar and eating lots of fresh veges, fruits, nuts, fish, chicken and as much organic as you can afford. I started this dietary regime 3 weeks ago and definitely feel better. Try adding supplements such as turmeric and green tea extract. Avoid toxins as much as you can. We need to fight this miserable disease as best we can. But definitely seek a second opinion. We never know what new treatments are around the corner.
I hope this is helpful for you and that you find a treatment that is helpful.

Thinking of you.
I was given that same diagnosis 16 months ago. After 3 months of chemo which was doing nothing but killing me I stopped and turned to alternative treatment in Mexico. I am going to Biomedical center in Tijuana. Diet is key! Google Bio Medical. If you have any questions let me know.
Do you have sclc or nsclc and is it considered extensive because of mets? Where are yours? What was the chemo doing to you?? I am filled with questions. And so much fear
My aunt went to Hoxsey bio-medical 30 or more yrs ago. 2 drs gave her less than 6 months to live she went there and is now Almost 90 yrs old. Never had cancer again. Good luck
I am so frustrated with reading so many patients whose doctors have given an answer to "how long do you think I have?" or offered the info. Statistics just don't work that way, and I fear it doesn't leave enough room for hope. I am sorry that you are dealing with all of this. I have NSCLC Stage 4 metastatic disease. But even if you look at the five-year survival rate, the people who are represented by these numbers lived many years ago because it takes so long for research and reporting and qualtifying and calculating and what about the patient who is dual-treated at two institutions due to residency versus location of a second-opinion? I wonder how that individual is represented in statistical reporting. Blablabla. You see my point: focus on this day, this moment, and ensuring that you know in your life what is most important to you and use whatever energy you have on that. I have three young-ish kids, so in the early days after treatment when I felt pretty awful, I let other things drift to the way-side so that I could be my very best at 3:30pm when they got home from school because helping with homework, dinner, etc. where the most important activities in my world (still are). I won't ever have to say "if I knew I had so little time, I would have......." AND the landscape is changing dramatically and has changed dramatically in very recent years for lung cancer treatment. I would guess that most excellent oncologists would say that the statistical data is a bit outdated. AND do Get a second opinion, even if it simply affirms that you feel best treated with the first opinion facility/doc.
