Hi wanted input from folks that take AHCC. What got you started taking it friend, internet or doctor recommended? Does it seem to help with immune system and have you had side effects. Thanks

Hi Helen 😊

My primary care doctor put in my hands ( literally) when he new I dx with cancer. I have not had any side effects from it. My doctors were aware I was taking it at the Mayo Clinic. My primary care believes AHCC made the tumor vunerable to the chemo radiation. I took 6000 mg a day for two weeks and 1000 mg a day for the rest of my life. Our bodies have natural killer cells but when we get cancer our immune system isn't good. The AHCC is clinically proven to boost immune system, inhance cytokins( these help healthy cells communicate to kill abnormal cells like cancer). Inhances wbc, b and T cells . Please google AHCC. Do your research. I just know that from my blood test I am doing great and my doctors say I am recovering from chemo and radiation faster than most of their patients. Go to Sloan Kettering hospital website. Type in AHCC in search box, it will give a brief paragraph. I feel blessed that my doctor gave me this supplement. He believes in it. God Bless

I have been hearing about AHCC. Thank you for sharing your story of how it helps you. I will definitely do more research .,I have stage 3 carcinoid lung cancer being treated by a shot of Sandostatin shot once a month. No real side effects, but I know it's probably wreaking havoc inside my body. It is keeping the cancer at bay for now.

Regards, Donna

This is the link Texas64 mentioned. It's a great site for information about herbs and botanicals. If there have been clinical studies they do reference them. I just noticed that they now have an ap for the site and I'm downloading it.

Thanks again for your comments. I've been quite bummed for the past few weeks, my arthritis in my left hand is getting worse, I am losing the use of it. Now my right hand is following suit. .......

I didn't realize that carcinoid syndrome is a life long disease, I've done some reading and come to learn that it is chronic. In fact , been sick for several days. I've thought this was the case, but wasn't 100% sure, really didn't want to know. But no getting away from it. Won't know till next week what my tumor marker number is. Anyone else dealing with this?
