It's true.... everyday it's becoming more treatable. I won't lie, I am disabled from the heavy doses of chemo n radiation..... but I am breathing and watching my grandbabies grow

Wonderful to read this. Especially about one of the more rare and less studied types of lung cancer.

Congratulations!

Chemo and radiaion...... when the cisplatin started to cause damage, (hearing, neuropathy, etc).....my Dr wanted to switch up my chemo med....I asked which was better and he said the cisplatin and I said then let's continue with it.... and he said the damage could be permanent. ..and I stated I rather be deaf, n not feeling than dead..... he agreed and continued with the cisplatin I did 6 straight days on the bag (they had to drip the meds slow because I crashed when it went in fast) and the 2 or 3 wks off and then another 6 days. I did thatfrom July to late November along side 45 days of radiation 3 different angles at the tumor......when I went for the pet scan late January. ..the news was awesome

And you have never had cancer back since that chemo and radiation? I also have NSCLC and did chemo and radiation. I did Cisplatin and Etoposide. 6 days begining and ending of radiation. 30 days radiation. I tolerated well but side effects hearing sight and ringing in ears and damaged the one lung I have left. But I have had clean scans since. My last treatment was March 23,2016 I have been so grumpy and scared and depressed. Thank you so much for the inspiration. I really needed it. Thanks for giving us all inspiration to beat this.

nope ... NO CANCER ..... remember you are in charge of your own body ... don't let them slack off on testings .... DEMAND the brain MRI and cat scans with contrast .... I had all those symptoms as well with the cisplatin .... as for MOODS .... yes I find myself able to go to POINT UGLY in zero seconds.... I take Zolft ... the depression comes with the fear you have of it coming back ..... you need to control that either by handling it or seeking counseling ... When I was first diagnosed ... my girls were tweens ..... I put my whole family in counseling .... the dr was great the kids got to email her with their feelings .... I no longer go to her .... I still have my fear ... and I do suffer bad anxiety ... BUT I Deal..... EVERY morning your feet hit that floor is one day more... make the most and best of it ......

hang in ... your concerns are real .... reach out if you need more info .... ljsyolo@gmail.com

Three years ago diagnosed stage two non-small cell lung cancer. Upper left lobe golf ball size mass deemed un operable too close to esophagus. Had Chemo and radiation was deemed no evidence of disease. Year and a half later I glowed a quarter size on a pet scan. Same area oncologist thinks they just did not get it all. Oncologist insisted on surgery. Found a surgeon who tried to remove upper left lobe was unsuccessful due to scar tissue from two years ago. Just completed four rounds of chemo three weeks apart going for pet scan in two weeks to see if it worked. I'm just so upset over the unsuccessful lobectomy.

Unsuccessful lobectomy, ugh. I'd be upset too. That darned old scar tissue - thinks it is doing a good job, but can cause all kinds of troubles! Good luck with the PET in a couple of weeks - please let us know how it goes!
