I wanted to share with you all a poem written by someone that called into our Support Line the other day in hopes that it would inspire and lift spirits:

Ode to a Rose

AS MY LUNGS FILL WITH THE MORNING AIR

I LOOK AROUND AND FEEL MY PLACE

IN THE FAMILY OF THINGS

I AM CONNECTED TO ALL NATURE

I NOTICE A ROSEBUSH NEARBY

RAVAGED BY SOME INVADING INSECTS

BUT STILL STRETCHING TOWARD THE SUN

WITH LEAVES AND BRANCHES DRY

FROM THE LONG TEXAS SUMMER HEAT

THERE IS ONLY ONE BEAUTIFUL ROSE

DEFIANTLY AND JUBILANTLY

DISPLAYING HER CRIMSON BEST

I CONSIDER BRINGING HER INSIDE

BUT FIND MY EYES WELLING UP WITH TEARS

AS SHE IS TRIUMPHANT WHERE SHE IS

DISPLAYING HER STRENGTH AND HER WILL

TO SURVIVE

It speaks volumes of the day to day thoughts of a cancer patient/survivor. As I went for my treatments at the cancer center at Sydney Kimmel in Baltimore, Md. , I saw some of the same people everyday coming for their treatments. Some encouraged me while others made me sad. No matter what I felt like I tried not to share any disparity. I have found in life that I have the ability to see the glass half full so I would not allow myself to stay at the pity party that appeared in my mind from time to time.

I have a very strong faith in God and know He is the true physician and no matter the outcome, it is for the best. God bless you all on your journey through this life.

@FtB_Travis that is really wonderful. Thanks for putting it on here for all of to enjoy. Jo
