Hi Steph, I have finished my treatment for lung cancer, as I am on oxygen24/7 it was decided that I would not be able to have the operation, so I had 4 lots of SABR it's an intense form of radium, I was told that some of the side effects could be rather unpleasant but honestly I can say I have sailed through it thanks to the professionalism of the consultant, radiograph team and nurses. I hope everything goes well for you keep positive you won't fail, if there are anymore questions please feel free to ask.
I hope that the replies you have received already have been helpful. This community will provide you with excellent insight from those who understand what you are going through, because they have gone through it too.

You just get up knowing that you got to fight in know God has you hand he will walk with you did they say that they could get all I have stage 3 but I know God going to heal me praying for you in your family
Steph, I also was diagnosed at 53 years old non-smoker at stage 1B, and had surgery to remove a lobe of my lung and then had 4 rounds of chemo 2 1/2 years ago. You need to remember that they found it early which is so much better then when most people are diagnosed. Realize that some days you are going to have pity parties for yourself and that is ok-but you pull yourself together and keep going. You want to have a positive attitude, which I know is really hard with all the prep-op testing. What got me through during the hard times was saying to myself "if other people can this, then I can this".
We are all here for you. Sending you positive thoughts.
I have stage 3B squamous non small cell carcinoma (lung cancer). I had radiation and chemotherapy simultaneously from December 2015 to February 2016. My tumor is inoperable and I went for my three month testing, blood work, CT scan with and without contrast, and pulmonary function test. The Drs believe the tumor was in remission at the time. I go back for my next three month follow up on August 35th for repeat testing.
With that being said, I have faith in my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He says in His word that He will never leave me nor forsake me. Whatever the outcome of this disease, I have peace in knowing that Jesus is the great physician. I don't allow myself to think about the cancer. I'm letting God handle it for me.
I pray that if you don't know Christ as your personal Savior, you will seek someone out to lead you to Him. You will find great peace and strength to face the journey ahead for you.
If you cannot find someone to talk to, message me and I will lead you to Christ.
What were your signs if any?How many CT scans? I am waiting for CT scan ( second one),first one shows 6cm nodule. Nothing to tell as of yet.Tell me your story, please.
My cancer was determined to be at stage 1B after I had surgery to have my right upper lobe removed. Prior to surgery I had no symptoms, I was having heart valve repair surgery when the cancer was found. I had a CT scan as a pre-op for the heart surgery. I then had another CT with barium contrast, a PET scan, a biopsy of my upper right lobe, MRI of my brain, and pulmonary breathing test prior to surgery. Ask your doctor what type of tests you will need. Sending you positive thoughts!!
I'm not sure how you balance all of that. My best advice would be to ask for and accept all the help you can get. I hope your job affords you sick leave so that you can concentrate on healing.
I have found the book Radical Remission by Kelly Turner full of many ideas that might help you. Meditation can help also.
