Hi, I'm Rhonda D: I'm one of the lucky... - Lung Cancer Support
Hi, I'm Rhonda D

Hi Rhonda, Welcome to the site. I had an 11 mm. Nodule removed by wedge resection, 3 yrs. ago. Had ct scan 8 mos. after. Was okay. Was supposed to get one a yr.ago March. Couldn't get it , no insurance. As you can welll imagine, my imagination has been driving me crazy! My chest muscles have been hurting pretty bad. I really was scared to get the ct scan. But I had one, and it's okay. Have been taking gabapentin, and seems to be helping the pain. Guess it's nerve pain. So now it's my neck pain....... Do you get a ct scan every 6 mos? Think the way you feel is normal. No guarantees ,right? 😊 Rubyxx
Hi Rhonda, I am glad they found it early, they found mine early also, I have COPD, emphazema and chronic bronchitis it was just luck that I had a ct scan and they found it, good luck to you, and by the way I will be 58 in Aug. will talk to you soon.
Rhonda, I feel the exact same way. My cancer was found at the 1B stage, I had surgery to remove my upper right lobe and 4 rounds of chemo 2 1/2 years ago. Every time I had a CT scan, every 6 months, I am so nervous that they will have found out that the cancer has returned. Even when I have an ache for more then 2 days that is where my mind goes. I think that maybe just the way it is, but I also try and live each day to it fullest. Please remember you are not alone regardless that you live alone.
Hello I am in the same boat as you. I am soon to be 58 and also live alone. I had stage 1, in 2012 had right upper lobe removed and 4 rounds of chemo. I worry about this all the time, I don't ever want to go through that again and it's always in my mind, is it going to come back or be found somewhere else. I wish I had some advice for you but I don't or I would use that advice myself. Just know you are not alone, I am in the same place. Keep praying, I do all the time. If you need someone to talk to I'm here, I know how lonely this road is.
Hi Rhonda. I was diagnosed with NSCLC December, 2013. I didn't qualify for surgery due to poor lung function so l entered a clinical trial of stereotactic radiation therapy, receiving the same amount of radiation usually given over 6to 8 weeks in only 3 days. One of the drawbacks of this treatment is the higher likelihood of recurrence. My cancer was caught early, stage 1. I worry every day that the cancer has come back. I have been having a lot of shoulder and arm pain on my right side, same side as my cancer. Will be turning 64 in a couple of weeks. Not scheduled for ct until October so I guess I will have to just worry until then. I am trying to eat "cleaner" drink more bottled water and take anti-inflammatory supplements. Good luck to you and I think you are completely normal in your feelings.
I know how you feel. I've only been September and each time my doc says things look real good but I'm afraid the next visit she will say somthing not good. I think about it all the time. I try to keep busy so I don't think about. Next visit is in July.
Good morning Rhonda I only had 9 chemo's . I feel the same, just pray to the good Lord that it's working, then I take it back from the good Lord..I thank the good Lord know's best lol. Just believe sweetie.
Hey@Rdorsey no its normal to feel afraid that its going to come back. Every time i have to have a lung x-ray or ct scan iget really afraid. i'm 67 and its scary. So its okay to be afraid. So you need to think every time you go for a test or whatever, keep saying in your mind its not back and its not going too. this is how i cope with it. i know its hard. If you need to talk i'll be around.
Hi Rhond. I couldn't have surgery on my lung becauseI have it in my lump odes . I! On my lumpnodes but I put in Gods hands, some times God keeps you down so you we will let him do his work.

I think it's very normal! I feel the same way and I have stage 4 lung cancer and I'm 52!
Maybe someone can help me. I'm on Alimta now it's still cancer drug. Does any one have ,(looks like large round spots on the out side and reddish and green on the inter circle ) I know go to the Dr. Just thought some one could help. So tired of Drs.
Hi Rhonda, I think that's very normal- some people call it "scaniexty" - the feeling of anxiety whenever they get sick or have to go in for a scan. You can learn more about it here- patientpower.info/lung-cancer
I was stage 2 also. Right upper lobectomy. Chemo and radiation. Two and a half years out. Still feel like crap most days, have arthritis and bursitis from the chemo, can barely eat, and am on lots of meds. Live in fear most of the time. Will be 59 this year. You are most certainly not alone. And neither am I. Thanks for your post. It always helps to know there are others out there with a story like mine. I will pray for your continuing health. Zan
ZanHealy- do you know if you can get arthritis in your ribs? Have been having pain there for almost two weeks straight. Am having a bone scan next week. So afraid cancer has metastasized 😕
