Hi all, I hope this is not stupid. I'm going to see a pulmonary doctor Saturday and I'm scared to hear the news. I'm almost positive I have lung cancer. Can someone tell what the first consultation will be like? thank you!
I'm new and scared: Hi all, I hope this... - Lung Cancer Support
I'm new and scared
The doctor will just talk to about what kind of cancer you in what stage it in what treatment you need it up to what you do I am a Christian in I believe in God healing I know in my heart God going to heal me I will be praying I have small cell carcinoma stage3 it in remission praise god
Would not think you would get the results the same day.I was sure that I also had it.But I do have COPD .I also had 6cm lung nodule, that was later determined to be a scar. But will go back in a year for another scan.I would say I was concerned durning the waiting to hear the results. But give God your worries and trust in Him.When you get your results back, let us know.
Nothing stupid about this question. Fear takes over. I would suggest that you have someone with you to take notes and to just listen. If you do get scary news, you will kind of go into shock so having another set of ears is important.
Because you aren't sure what direction the appointment is going to take you might want a follow-up because you will have other questions.
It may or may not be lung cancer but if it is, there are so many advancements made just in the 4 years since I was diagnosed with stage 3a Non small cell adenocarcinoma.
I don't know if you have had a CT scan or a biopsy of some kind but that needs to be done first to determine if something is there. Until then, don't jump to conclusions.
Keep in touch and let us know what you find out. You might not even need this group.
Have some go with you. You will be scared to hear any bad news. Have faith in your doc and faith with God . Do what ever you have to do to get back on track. Keep smiling . Wishing you the best.
You did not indicate if you have had any kind of tests, scans, etc. until you have had any of the these tests the doctor is not going to be able to give you a clear diagnosis. As Heather1959 indicate, take someone with you to the appointment. I know for myself that when I received my diagnosis it was overwhelming. But until your appointment, think positively and do something to take your mind off of it today. We are here for you!! Sending you positive thoughts.
HI Spree; What makes you think you have lung cancer? If it is and you caught it early that's a good thing, in fact a very good thing. Don't ever give up hope, with God all things are possible. I will be keeping you in prayer, let us know how the appointment goes.
If u KNOW for sure u have lung cancer, because of previous test results, then the appt will be about plans for treatment, any further tests u may need, port insertion, chemo class, etc. It will be a whirlwind so definitely bring someone with you. The appt itself is nothing to be scared of but may clarify a lot of questions u may have and allay fears of the unknown.
Couldn't begin to add to the wisdom given already by these experts, thank you everyone!
Just wanted to remind you that fear is natural and questions are healthy - we need to gather information to make decisions and to cope.
We are so glad you came into this community to share your story. Please let us know how things went for you on Saturday, we'll all be thinking of you.
