Lung cancer : Just went threw surgery... - Lung Cancer Support
Lung cancer
I am in remission nine years. I smoked for 40 years. Put those cigarettes down. You could not pay me enough to smoke a cigarette. The cravings will go away. Never have a desire to smoke. Put your life before all else.
I understand your frustration and your strong desire to smoke. With that being said, I have stage 3b lung cancer and was smoking about 3 packs a day. My cancer is inoperable and I have undergone radiation and chemotherapy. I will receive my next CT scan on 5/25.
You need to quit smoking and I know first hand how hard it will be. Each state has a "Quit Now.com" site. I believe if you contact them you can get free patches or others aids to help you quit.
God be with you and strengthen you.
I smoked over 40 yrs & quit. Yes it was very hard but 10 yes later when I was dx with lung cancer I was able to have surgery because my lung capacity had improved so much. 4 yrs later I was dx with another new lung cancer. My surgeons will do what is absolutely necessary for current smokers but if they won't quit that's about it. My doctor said why waste his time & put the patient thru it if they are still smoking. I don't care if you can't afford patches or your car broke down or you break your toe if you want to survive this you will stop the pity party ( I've had them myself & that's ok) & spend your mental strength to quit smoking. Or if you decide you can't then smoke away but don't expect doctors to care if you don't. Now that all said life is precious & short. I hope you allow others to help you but especially God. Who can give you the peace that passes all understanding. Good life & luck to you
