mediven sell a spray and it's lovely. I spray it directly on top of my stockings.

Boots sell water in aerosol form - lots of my clients use it - spray directly on to the garments you are wearing.

Keep the garments in the fridge or freezer overnight.

Put Garments in fridge or freezer overnight before you put them on, water in a spray bottle and spray onto your garments (it cools like air conditioning), cooling pad at nght the under LE limb. I bought mine on amazon

Hi there, I also spray water on my stockings to keep cool and just use tap water in a standard household spray bottle, I also keep one at work.

Loose clothing helps as does a hand held fan like the old fashioned Spanish senioritas use so you can fan your neck area to help cool your blood between sprays or when out ant about,

If I am at home I keep blinds drawn during the day on the sunny side of the house and open windows on the shaded side of the house so cool air is drawn in to help keep the house cool.

I also have an electric fan and dehumidifier. The dehumidifier really helps as the humidity makes it feel hotter I think.

Finally, nice cold iced water to sip and try and pretend you are in the Seychelles!

Good luck.

I don't wear stockings (well I have some, but my swelling is mild). Just an idea - how about wetting a hand towel - and putting it in the fridge. You could then wrap your leg in that from time to time to get some instant relief? In the USA, most people have air-con - which is a god-send in the really humid zones. As a therapist, I met a lady once who loves to swim - when she went on holidays, she would wear her old garments when swimming in the surf (so she'd be cooling off, and still have compression on)! I thought that was dedication - still enjoying her holiday, and caring for her leg.

Hi chocolate-e-Clare, my Lymphodema isn't that bad well I don't think anyway but my nurse said I have to wear my stockings every day.

Wearing the stockings every day is advised - but not practical sometimes! Don't beat yourself up if they get too much! Take them off and have a break.

Well I have ISL stage ll, what ever that means and for the first time in ages my left foot felt uncontrollably itchy due to the heat yesterday. I simply had to scratch it which made my foot numb. Felt very weird afterwards I was lucky that I did not break the skin. I resorted to taking everything off and washing my feet with loads of warm water and Hydromol this felt wonderful and very comforting despite having feet that looked deformed.

Lately, I have felt a few weird sensations as a result of my lymphoedemia, the only explanation I can come up with is weak in the knees and dizziness, probably down to heat.

I am very frustrated with my compression socks, they are uncomfortable, cause extra ridges that are sore, make me itchy, cause pins and needles and severe cramps. Unfortunately they may be alright for a temporary period of relief but anything longer than 3 hours is a no no. Yet I have been advised to wear them for 23 hours.

I am also frustrated by the effort it takes to get them on and off despite having a piece of equipment to help. The problem is I am overweight and struggle to reach and also I have severe asthma and COPD. I am having more serious spasms of difficult breathing trying to get them on and off. So coupling this with the heat, my socks are not going to get worn as often as I don't fancy becoming a hospital patient due to an acute attack of asthma or COPD.

My clinic nurse knows this and can not suggest any other treatments.

Strange how for five years my GP has thought that this condition was reversible with diet and exercise, yet the clinic nurse thinks its not possible.

I am now looking at alternative treatments to the socks.
