Hi, it just depends on clinic, I live in Sunderland and waited 5 month for my first app at clinic in hospice, my last app on 30th sept was cancelled and still waiting for another app coming through.

If you know which clinic you have been referred to, there would be no harm in calling them to see what the waiting list is like. You could also - if you have easy access - ask to be put on the cancellations list.

Thank you I shall leave it until end of the month and will then ring the hospice if I've not heard anything.

It may be worth paying privately to see them sooner, some MLD nurses who work privately can measure you for compression garments, the earlier you are seen the better.

Seems to depend on where you live and also whether you are referred by a GP or via another hospital clinic or department. I was originally referred by hospital physio service where I had mastectomy to the service in my more local hospital so it took just under a month. But stories on this forum show it can take a lot longer. I agree that it's worth phoning and saying that you are happy to go on waiting list for a cancellation, as the sooner you are measured for compression garments and get proper care advice for your arm the better the outcome.
