Have you tried the LSN? 020 7351 0990

Your breast cancer nurse may be able to advise, or give you a list of recommendations.

A physiotherapist would also be able to give guidance or a lymphoedema therapist.

Breast Cancer Care dot org (google it!) has some on their website: click on "Publications". A Leeds study suggests that you should not raise your arm above shoulder height for the first week to ten days after surgery, which it doesn't say in the booklet, but otherwise it is really good. The Haven dot org dot uk has a dvd for sale, but I think you can also find it for free on their website (google haven and lymphoedema). Both of them have a wealth of bc-related advice about lymphoedema.

The Breast Cancer Care DVD is very good, the exercises are similar to those recommended for Lymphoedema . It can take a while to get a full range of movement but persevere, good luck.

Hi,

There is a dvd that is free from breastcancer.org.uk it is called getting fitter feeling stronger which I found quite good after my mastectomy and still helps me now I have lymphpodema in the right arm.

Go take a look at there website they have loads of information leaflets that may help.

Good luck

Chris thank you so much for your reply I will contact breast cancer today. I have only just found this site and everyone has been so helpful I wish I had found it a long time ago.

hi again linda

it is frustrating, isn't it, but you've found us now

i agree that the one from breastcancercare.org is really good, and free

& the haven website can be hard to find so here it is: thehaven.org.uk/how-we-can-... & scroll down to the second one, the exercises start after the talking bit

take it steady - as quail says, stick to shoulder height for now if you can - & before you know it you'll be waving your arms around merrily
