Picked up a sinus infection about a month ago, I've had them before, but this one seems different, worse than others I've had in the past. Discharge won't quit after 3 weeks, seems almost pus-like, yellowish green, much worse in left nostril, was given 10 day course of doxycycline, was getting better but after course, it came back. Went back to doctor after putting up with it, prescribed course of methylprednisolone which I'm afraid to take, also told to try Flonase which is now available over the counter, wondering if this will help this. With almost constant discharge don't know if Flonase will adhere to sinus walls. Also found some help at night with extra strength clear nasal strips, helps me sleep. Drinking lots of fluids, etc.
Sinus issues: Picked up a sinus infection... - Living with Asthma
Sinus issues
Mine started with a bad wet cough which then progressed to what I believe was a terrible sinus infection, head would pound when I looked down same as you soo much yellow and green mucus! I didn’t get antibiotics because I couldn’t get into my Dr’s but I’m a few weeks on and still my nostril is blocked, my ear is blocked and ringing and my throat seems tight and sore. My Asthma has really geared up a notch, I’m breathless a lot and any time I try to laugh or speak loud I have a crazy coughing fit.
Genuinely feel like crap!! Sending love! Wanted you to know you’re not alone!
Hello Kellylou1712, thanks so much for your reply. I believe that now, after about 9 weeks suffering with this, that I'm slowly getting a bit better. I was on 2 rounds of antibiotics, first doxycycline, then cefdinir, 10 days for each, 2 weeks apart from one another, and I don't think they helped much. I bought a bottle of NAC at the health store to raise my glutathione levels after researching, and I honestly believe it has helped. This particular sinus infection was really stubborn with little let up, really bad. I kept myself hydrated with plenty of fluids, took my supplements and ate really good with mainly vegetables and lean proteins along with my whey isolate protein powder. I sure hope you are feeling better soon, keep yourself well and eat only good foods, and talk with your doctor about possible supplements if you decide. If you have asthma please be careful with anything you take, safety first is the best policy.
