Hi, does anyone else have an asthma attack/worsening following ingestion of sulfites, whether in food or medication? It's recently become a problem for me, and it seems sulfites are in EVERYTHING. Having trouble avoiding. Any tips/shared stories welcomed!

I can imagine they're super hard to avoid! I don't think I have a reaction but I've had many many doctors tell me sulfites commonly aggravate asthma in people and cause inflammation in general (I think that's why they're linked to migraines, too). Sulfites are a migraine trigger for me, I gave them up! Difficult to avoid, & boring too, ( but for me! It’s weigh it out….migraine vs cheese/mushrooms/, slice of Mom’s wine cake……-yeah, I don’t need that…)

Yes, they can definitely affect your asthma (and the rest of your well-being, too). Stick with fresh fruits and veggies, fresh meat/poultry/fish, some rice and potatoes, water and herbal teas, and you shouldn't have to contend with sulfites/sulfates, nitrites/nitrates, and all of the other miserable ingredients that manufacturers try to pass off as food.

Red Wine sufites really get to me.

Same here. Before getting asthma, I used to enjoy red wine on special occasions, but after some nasty flares since... Just a sip will have to do from now on.

Yeah. Now beer is doing the same thing. Might have to try Gin or vodka.
