Hyperinflated lungs?

Hello all. I’m new here and recently had a PFT done. What does hyperinflated or air trapping mean? This was noted on my test. I do not have symptoms of asthma or COPD. This test was done as precautionary since I do have an autoimmune disease. I was extremely nervous that day and felt as if I was having a panic attack as I have anxiety.

Hi

Hyperinflation or air trapping means when you performed the PFT and exhaled you did not empty your lungs as efficiently as you should. Some of the air remained trapped in your lungs. It sometimes happens with obstructive lung conditions. I would ask my doctor more about it including how much and what does that mean for you.
