Get tested, again. I am off the charts regarding Dust. I am hoping to try the new sublingual therapy for dust allergies. Still fighting at 67.

When dealing with dust. It is good to use a wet mop or a swifter when you do clean though it is better if somebody can help you since dust causes flare ups to asthma sufferers. You may want to have a professional come in at least once to do a thorough clean up. My friend just had somebody come in and she said they dusted her books! There had been a fire on her street and

the particles left after the fire was contain sent her to the emergency room for her asthma attack.

She also got an air purifier and she said she has never slept so well.

Campisa,

Totally agree! I reluctantly agreed to have a dear friend vac and dust home before I was released from hospital with pneumonia. She dampens her dust cloth before putting product in it. Wow what a difference! I use a mask now whenever cleaning. It definitely helps.

I am thinking about having duct work professionally cleaned too. I've heard that helps a lot.

Air purifier??? How did you know what to get??

Thanks!

Mary

One that uses a HEPA filter is best. There is one that appears to work well especially if you keep in your bedroom. It is Holmes Allergen Remover Air Purifier Mini-Tower with True HEPA filter and it has three speeds. It removes up to 99.97% of airborne allergens. It has a washable filter too. I hope this helps. Morning Putnam,

Do you see allergist?

Putnam profile image
PutnamAsthma Captain in reply toMahod

I just started to see one because I no longer had any antibodies to fight pneumonia. She is an allergist/immunologist..

Thanks! I have primary immune dificiency, dx 2 1/2 years ago, I get IVIG infusions every 4 weeks. I see an infectious disease/ immune doc. She's amazing!

Always had allergies, just lived with them, bronchitis, pneumonia...thought everyone did. I am going to ask my pulmonary doc if allergy tests would help. Asthma and lung issues going in wrong direction.

It’s good to hear that you are talking with your doctor and discussing what treatment will be best for you- making shared decisions! ❤️

What are IVIG infusions?

Mahod profile image

Intravenous Immunoglobulin Therapy. I get IVs every 4 weeks ( life long) to replace what my body can't produce. The goal is to hold a "trough level" - therapeutic level- between infusions. Mine take about 4 hours and are done at my docs infusion center.Hope this helps. Happy to answer questions about it. DX to qualifying for therapy.

He has blessed me with available replacement therapy! Goal...reduce infections and recurrent pneumonias. These trigger the asthma. Geesh our bodies are sure resilient or is it our spirit???

Yeah, Just started with the immunologist/ allergist. I have to stay away from antibiotics. They destroyed my anti bodies.

Mahod profile image

Unfortunately I have to take antibiotics due to pneumonias. Because I don't produce antibodies to fight them. I do use good probiotics to help other unwanted side effects. Good news, haven't been in hospital for 6 months!! IVIG working along with nebulizer " cocktail" as pulmonary doc calls it.

All this for someone who does not like to take meds. I have found positive attitude helps!

Wishing you healthy breathing!!!
