Symbicort comes in two different doses. It's generally taken as 2 puffs twice a day (morning and evening). If it's not giving you good control you need to call your dr. Maybe you need a higher doseage if you aren't already on it OR a completely different type of inhaler.

Also NEVER us this type of inhaler more often than your doctor prescribes, or when you are having an attack! It's not a rescue inhaler, it's a long-acting bronchodilator.

If your doctor's office is closed and you are uncertain about dosing for a medication, you can call either the pharmacy that filled the prescription or any 24-hour pharmacy and they will tell you what they dosing guidelines are for that specific medication.

Symbicort can be used as a rescue inhaler if you’re instructed to follow the SMART (or MART) regime. However this depends on the strength of your inhaler so you don’t use it that way unless instructed too.

Hope that helps

Thank you all for your help, my Dr wouldn't up my puffs put put me on 40 mg of prednisone so we'll see if that helps, don't know if it will but I'll try.
