Hi my name is Eric and I am brand new to to this forum.  I am a 54 year old male who was diagnosed  with Asthma at age 2.  Throughout most of my life my Asthma presented itself as more of a nuisance with occasional severe attacks which required Hospitalization.  In early March of this year I experienced a severe attack which for the first time caused me to become unconscious.  Luckily I was in a Restaurant and help got there in 8 minutes. I was rushed to the hospital and while I was there I also realized I had ruptured both quadricep tendons when I fell down unconscious.  I'm still dealing with this disabling injury.   Now I have to manage my asthma differently. I think the attack happened as a result of drinking a craft beer at a brewery/restaurant.  Has anyone else experienced severe attacks after drinking beer? I could have an allergy to certain beers.  Should I consult a pulminologist and/or allergy Doctor? I am currently under the care of a general practitioner.  I think I am going to need to see another Doctor dedicated to my asthma only.

I to have asthma since young child. Can'tt drink beer cause it may set off breathing difficulties.Never know what ones that are safer than others. Lite version or full body, don't make any difference. Some are less problems while others make it serious. I have found out that it is best to try one sip wait for a few minutes to pass if no action is caused then sip another. Most likely that second sip will be the one that lets me know if I can havea full beer or two at the time. Most do cause a rreaction, so much so that I just pass on beer and drink a mixed drink instead.Cranberry and ..sence fruit juices are less likely to have ill effects on myself.
