Has anyone here experienced excessive burping and breathlessness while walking?
If yes, what was the cause?
I read in an article that these symptoms could be a rare symptom of heart disease or angina and I'm feeling a little bit anxious as a result. I was referred to a cardiologist 3 years ago and I we given all clear.

Hi there. Yes use to ecperience that a lot. People with anxiety tend to get trapped air which can cause breathlessness. Also gerd can cause it too. I suffer quite a bit of heartburn also can be caused by anxiety. If you've had your heart checked and all was ok i wouldn't worry too much but if it still concerns you go and see another doctor to put your mind at ease. Hope this puts your mind at ease as worrying only makes it worse.
If you had the all clear 3 years ago it’s unlikely to be your heart. I get this, some days it’s barely noticeable, others it’s debilitating. I know I’m out of condition and I worry about my heart. My husband who had a virus which attacked his heart and caused angina-like symptoms, and whose brother had a heart attack and bypass surgery in his early 40s tells me it’s not my heart and it’s anxiety. The more I think about it the worse it gets which is a classic anxiety symptom. The other thing it could be is a gastric issue, acid reflux causes breathlessness and burping. I can’t take PPI meds but hopefully they’re helping you, give them time to work. Try not to worry, as I said at the start if your heart was ok 3 years ago it’s very unlikely to be functioning badly enough to cause you these symptoms now. Also you’d notice other symptoms if your heart wasn’t coping. Anxiety upsets our digestion, and heartburn/reflux are causes of the symptoms you’re having.
Hope you’re feeling better soon, have a look at your diet and see if anything you’re eating is making the issue worse. I’ve found at the age of 51 I’m intolerant to potatoes, cutting them out of my diet has ‘cured’ a list of health worries I had.
Hi this sounds like me. I have gerd, also spent ages going down the heart-worry route, got checked, nothing.
I've been fine for ages, taking the pills, feeling better. then boom lockdown and now I not only have the symptoms back but also the anxiety about it.
I think it is because stress brings on the gerd, plus so does eating bad stuff (lots more snacking on lockdown including coffee, fizzy drinks, sweet snacks, all the worst stuff for acid reflux issues) and the discomfort and breathlessness from that is triggering my anxiety.
I also have the anxious-person's habit of holding my breath without realsing it. And swallowing air when panicking! All fo which leads to breathlessness and burping too.
It's worth talking to your doctor about the anxiety, there is plenty of self help you might try and the doctor should be able to reassure you about your physical symptoms.
