Young with HIV

I'm looking for guys who either were diagnosed under the age of 18 or are living with HIV under the age of 21. Hit me up! I'm 21 and would love to meet other guys that face the same stuff I do being young with HIV.

You're in a fairly small subset of people living with HIV. I run a newly diagnosed support group in Long Beach, CA, and I can tell you that I've only met one person diagnosed under 18 in the past few years. Most young folks I know either got it at birth, or they were engaging in pretty high risk behaviours early on--things like exchanging sex for a place to stay or for drugs (or both). Because their lives aren't that stable, they're not doing a lot of reaching out to peers.

The other issue I've come across with younger folks is that they usually show up once at the group I run. It's kind of frustrating because we may get a couple persons under 24 each month, but if they both don't show up on the same day, they don't come back. My suggestion is to keep trying. Eventually you'll meet others like yourself.

Not what you're looking for?
